Wandering Squid Alpha
A downloadable game for Windows
Explore a vast underwater world - and hopefully not die in the process. Face off against fearsome predators, avoid the perils of the underwater world, and hunt food for survival!
Controls:
Arrow/WASD keys to move
Z to interact
Hold M/TAB to pull up the map (use the arrow/WASD keys to navigate through the map)
ESC to pause
Mouse to interact with buttons
This project is currently in the alpha stage. It may be buggy, and it is still missing a majority of it's content. All feedback is greatly appreciated.
A full demo is planned for Q1 2026 (stay tuned for that!), with the full release being around Q4 2026 to Q1 2027.

It's really cool! The physics feel very nice, but I feel like spikes setting you back so far is frustrating (maybe they take a few of hits or you could put more checkpoints at the start while you're still learning the game). Also, it'd be nice if I had a little bit of control after pressing up rather than just going straight ahead. Btw turning around to eat things is a very neat idea.
Thanks for playing! Having more movement control after pressing the up arrow is a nice idea, I'll work on implementing that. IDK really about what I will do with spikes? It might be easier to avoid them when you have more movement control and once I tune the number of spikes a bit.
